We are David and Cherie Bartels, founders of Healing the Harvest. In July 2021, we felt God calling us to buy a school bus and convert it into an RV. By December of that year, we had found the perfect bus, and by October 2022, our new home – The Chariot – was (mostly) ready to go. With hearts full of faith, we sold our home in Pennsylvania, gave away all our furniture, and set out on a journey led by the Holy Spirit.
Since then, we have been traveling across the United States, answering God’s call to “go to the need.” We quickly realized that need is everywhere. People with broken hearts, wounded spirits, and hurting bodies surround us wherever we go. Our mission is simple: to see the need and take action. Sometimes, all it takes is a smile. Other times, it’s offering one of our blessing bags filled with essentials. More often than not, it means listening, loving, and praying with people, trusting that God will show up in exactly the way they need.
So far, we have traveled across 18 states, ministering to people from all walks of life. From the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Miami, Florida, from New Jersey’s coastline to the plains of South Dakota, every stop has been part of God’s divine plan.
Wherever we go, we bring the Kingdom of God to those He places in our path.
This is just the beginning. We don’t always know where we’ll be next, but we trust that God is guiding every step. Our hearts remain open, our faith unshaken, and our mission unchanged: to bring healing and restoration to a broken world.

Cherie is the glue that holds everything together, managing the logistics, planning, and countless unseen details that keep Healing the Harvest running smoothly. With a heart for service and a gift for mercy and teaching, she provides support both on and off the road, ensuring that every person they encounter is met with love and compassion.
